The Estate of Walter Cumpston v. Sycamore Creek Nursing Center Tandem Healthcare and Healthcare Industries Inc. Defense Verdict

THE DEFENSE SECURES A SIGNIFICANT VICTORY IN A NURSING HOME PATIENT CARE CASE IN PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, DECEMBER 2008 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC and Wicker, Smith, O’Hara, McCoy & Ford, P.A., obtained a defense verdict for Sycamore Creek Nursing Center, Tandem Healthcare and Healthcare Industries, Inc., in a two-week State Court civil trial wherein Plaintiff Janet Cumpston alleged that her husband sustained injuries which were a factual cause in his death due to substandard care and "abuse" during the decedent’s (Walter Cumpston) year-long residency at Sycamore Creek Nursing Center.  The claims were classic "profits over people" allegations in which Plaintiff argued that Defendants had knowledge of a multitude of dangerous practices within the facility.
