Akron: Jury finds care facility responsible for residents death
A federal jury has found Emeritus Corporation, operator of Emeritus at Canton, formerly known as The Landing of Canton, and operator of multiple Assisted Living/Senior Living Facilities throughout Ohio and the United States, responsible for the death of one of its residents.
Having found Emeritus liable for 9 of the 9 claims filed against them by the children of Dorothy Freudeman, the jury is now deliberating the amount of damages to be awarded, as well as punitive damages.
Attorneys for the family say the damages are for the corporation’s negligence and reckless disregard for the safety of Dorothy Freudeman, 80, and its other residents.
