Comments:

I am very happy to report that a Cook County judge has found unconstitutional the recent statutory change to 6 person juries.  This ruling will restore our 12 person juries.  In short, the Court here determined that the Illinois Legislature “…acted beyond the scope of its powers” in enacting the amendment “by contradicting a right specifically provided for by our constitution.”  The ruling (attached, entered December 21, 2015) also certified the issue for immediate appeal, which is a certainty.  We will keep you apprised of the appeal and any subsequent rulings.

Thanks, Kevin
