Virginia Regulatory
Updates published June 3, 2013

Effective 7/3/13, the regulations
governing the practice of physician
assistants
will no longer require that a patient be seen on the
4th visit by the supervising physician.  This requirement is being deleted
from 18 VAC 85-50-110. Applicable Virginia Register. 

The Virginia Board of
Pharmacy
is currently accepting comments through 8/2/13 on a proposed
regulatory change to modify the requirements for automated dispensing devices
for a less burdensome process.  The Board is also accepting comments
through 8/2/13 on a proposed change to make record keeping less restrictive and
burdensome for on-hold prescriptions.  Applicable Virginia Register. 

The Board of Long-Term
Care Administrators
has fast tracked a regulatory change to add
more flexibility in the CE courses and in administrator-in-training qualifications. 
This is being taken up as part of a periodic review.  The public comment
deadline is 7/3/13 and the effective date is 7/18/13.  Applicable Virginia Register.
